Manchester Super Giants produced a crucial double on the road as both the women’s and men’s teams secured victories over Southern Brave at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton.

The women’s side claimed a 27-run win before the men followed it up with a 10-run victory, delivering two results that could prove hugely important in the race for qualification heading into the final league-stage fixture.

The women’s team set the tone with an excellent batting performance, posting 139 for four from their 100 balls. Smriti Mandhana led from the front, producing a classy 46 at the top of the order, before Richa Ghosh took centre stage. Promoted to No. 3, Ghosh smashed a brilliant 54, bringing up her maiden half-century in The Hundred 2026 en route a crucial 83-run partnership with Mandhana.

Their efforts gave the Super Giants a competitive total on a surface that offered plenty of assistance to the spinners.

With the ball, Mady Villiers delivered a match-winning spell. The spinner claimed three wickets for just 17 runs from her 20 balls, exploiting the pitch conditions to trouble the Brave batters.

Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Kathryn Bryce also played their part in a superb collective bowling effort as the Super Giants restricted Southern Brave to 112 for six, sealing an impressive victory and keeping the women firmly in the qualification hunt.

In the men’s game, Tim Seifert and Paul Walter put together a sensational 119-run opening stand. Seifert struck his third fifty of the season, with 55 from 34 balls, while Walter smashed 64 off just 32, powering the Super Giants to 149 for eight. The innings lost momentum late on, but the bowlers made sure the total was enough. Gus Atkinson’s pace and consistency earned him two wickets, while Liam Dawson also picked up two crucial wickets as the Super Giants restricted Southern Brave to 139 for six to secure a vital 10-run win.

With qualification still firmly in sight, winning both games was crucial and these victories could prove invaluable heading into the final league-stage match on August 11.
