Manchester Super Giants marked their first home game of The Hundred 2026 in emphatic fashion with a commanding 87-run victory over Birmingham Phoenix at Emirates Old Trafford.

Backed by a passionate home crowd, the Super Giants produced a complete all-round performance, piling on an imposing total before dismantling the Phoenix batting line-up to make it two wins from two in the men’s competition.

After being asked to bat first, the Super Giants’ batting unit laid the perfect platform with an aggressive approach from the outset. Contributions throughout the innings ensured the scoreboard kept ticking, but it was Jos Buttler, whose stunning 90 off just 50 balls grabbed all the headlines. The Super Giants finished with a formidable 187 for five.

Defending 188, the Super Giants’ bowlers were relentless from the get go. Liam Dawson led the charge with a superb spell, finishing with outstanding figures of three for 15 as he repeatedly broke crucial partnerships. Spinner Noor Ahmad once again showcased his class, claiming two wickets while conceding just 16 runs, making life difficult for the Phoenix middle order.

The pressure eventually proved too much for the visitors as Manchester wrapped up the innings for just 100 runs, sealing a comprehensive 87-run victory. The convincing margin reflected the Super Giants’ dominance across both disciplines and continued the excellent momentum built from the opening-day win over London Spirit.

Attention now turns to Tuesday’s clash against Sunrisers Leeds, where the Super Giants will look to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign and build further momentum as The Hundred gathers pace.

Earlier in the day, the women’s fixture between Manchester Super Giants and Birmingham Phoenix was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent bad weather, meaning both teams shared the points.
